2025 Community Improvement Plan

Sioux Lookout, ON – The Municipality of Sioux Lookout has launched the 2025 Community Improvement Plan (CIP) Program. Building on the success of the 2024 program, the CIP continues to be a vital tool for fostering economic growth, enhancing community spaces, and supporting our local businesses.

The CIP program offers financial incentives to property and business owners in designated areas of Sioux Lookout for downtown revitalization, economic development, and environmental sustainability – all areas that align with Sioux Lookout’s strategic priorities.

With 16 approved projects last year, the CIP has made a significant impact by revitalizing storefronts, enhancing accessibility, and beautifying public spaces.

"The Community Improvement Plan is an essential tool for supporting private investment in Sioux Lookout,” said Mayor Doug Lawarance. “By empowering local businesses to enhance their properties, we’re not only beautifying our community but also strengthening the economic foundation that supports us all. These partnerships are key to creating a vibrant, thriving town."

CAO Brian MacKinnon added that, "Private investment is vital to the growth and prosperity of Sioux Lookout. The CIP program allows us to work with local businesses to create a more welcoming and dynamic community. By investing in our shared future, we’re helping businesses succeed while making Sioux Lookout more appealing for residents and visitors alike."

Eligible applicants can apply for grants to support projects such as:

  • Façade improvements.
  • Accessibility enhancements.
  • Residential intensification.
  • Property rehabilitation and revitalization.

The application intake period runs through Friday, February 28, 2025. Applications will be awarded based on their alignment with the program’s goals and available funding.
