Council Brief - November 20, 2024

The following is a summary of the proceedings of the Statutory Public Meeting and Regular Council Meeting held November 20, 2024:

  • Council received Planning Report dated November 20, 2024, respecting Zoning By-law Amendment No. Z14-2024 and directed staff to prepare a subsequent Planning Report for presentation at a future Council meeting, considering the feedback received at the November 20, 2024 Statutory Public Meeting.
    • Purpose: The Zoning By-law Amendment was submitted to rezone the subject property, locally known as 84 King Street from Downtown Commercial (CD) Zone to site-specific Residential Type Two Exception Fifteen (R2-15). The proposed development would allow for ten dwelling units within two separate buildings.
  • Council received Planning Report dated November 20, 2024, respecting Zoning By-law Amendment No. Z13-2024 and directed staff to prepare a subsequent Planning Report for presentation at a future Council meeting, considering the feedback received at the November 20, 2024 Statutory Public Meeting.
    • Purpose: The Zoning By-law Amendment was submitted for property locally known as 140 King Street, to allow a total of six dwellings within two separate buildings.
  • Council received Planning Report dated November 20, 2024, respecting  Zoning By-law Amendment No. Z11-2024, and directed staff to prepare a subsequent Planning Report for Presentation at a future Council meeting, considering the feedback received at the November 20, 2024 Statutory Public Meeting.
    • Purpose: The Zoning By-law Amendment was submitted for property locally known as 142 King Street, to allow a total of six dwellings within two separate buildings.
  • Council authorized the land sale and transfer of land to Happy Time Real Estate Holdings and passed By-law No. 96-24, Being a By-law to Authorize and Direct the Mayor and Clerk to Execute Agreements and Documents Regarding the Sale of the hereinafter described Land by the Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout to Happy Time Real Estate Holdings LP, and By-law No. 97-24. Being a By-law to Authorize the Conveyance of Certain Hereinafter Described Land by the Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout to Happy Time Real Estate Holdings LP, and to Direct the Mayor and Clerk to Execute the Transfer.
    • Purpose: To sell municipally owned land to private company for development.
  • Council approved amending Schedule “A” to By-law No. 68-22 Being a By-law to Make Appointments to Various Boards, Commissions and Committees, by deleting Mario Rasetti from the Municipal Truth and Reconciliation Committee, after having received his resignation.
