Council Brief

The following is a summary of the proceedings of the Regular Council Meeting held July 20, 2022:

  • Council authorized the purchase of a multi-use tractor with brushing attachment for $ 202,338.00 plus HST from Mazergroup Winnipeg.
  • Council passed By-law No. 46-22, Being a By-law to Authorize and Direct the Mayor and the Clerk to Execute a Contribution Agreement with the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM), towards the Asset Management System and Data Upgrades.
  • Council acknowledged in accordance with Section 4.4 of By-law No. 09-20, Being a By-law Governing the Calling, Place and Proceedings of Meetings of Council and Council-Appointed Boards, Commissions and Committees, that the date for the Regular Council Meeting in August 2022 shall be August 24, 2022.
  • Council, notwithstanding Section 4.4 of By-law No. 09-20, Being a By-law Governing the Calling, Place and Proceedings of Meetings of Council and Council-Appointed Boards, Commissions and Committees, determines that the September Council Meeting shall be held in Council Chambers, Municipal Office, 25 Fifth Avenue.
  • Council passed By-law No. 47-22, Being a By-law to Set the Remuneration to be Paid to Members of Council, and to rescind By-law No. 86-18.
  • Council received the Police Cost Coalition and the Municipal/Police Services Board Approaches to Reduced Calls for Service and Policing Costs report for information.
  • Council received a Motion to Reconsider Enabling Virtual Participation in Council Meetings from Cllr. Connor Howie. Council will consider the motion at the August 24, 2022 Regular Council Meeting.
  • Council approved amending Schedule “A” to By-law No. 92-18 by deleting Mary Ellen Johnson from the Sioux Lookout Library Board, and adding Laine Helbling.
