Recreation Centre Re-Opening Photo

Sioux Lookout – The Municipality of Sioux Lookout is excited to announce the first phase of reopening for the Recreation Centre, following a closure that began in June for upgrades and improvements.

Starting Tuesday October 1st, several key areas of the facility will be available for public use, with more spaces to follow soon.

In this initial stage, the following areas will be open to the public:

  • Gymnasium
  • Cardio Room
  • Squash Court
  • Walking Track

While we are thrilled to welcome the community back to these areas, please note that the changerooms, lockers, and weight room will remain closed at this time. We expect these areas to reopen very soon, and updates will be provided as they become available.

The reopening has been carefully planned to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all users while we continue to finalize the work on the remaining areas of the facility.

Meredith Culham, Manager of Recreation and Culture shared, “We are eager to welcome our community back, starting with our gymnasium and some fitness areas. The improvements we've made will enhance everyone’s experience, and we’re committed to reopening the rest of the facility very soon.”

Additionally, membership packages are currently available for pickup by new and existing members. These packages will provide details about the new procedures for accessing the facility, as well as other important information on how to use our amenities. Members are welcome to stop in Monday through Sunday from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. to pick up their membership package and help expedite their first visit back to our facility next week.

Please stay tuned for additional announcements regarding the reopening of the remaining spaces.
