Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day 2023

WHEREAS: Pregnancy and Infant Loss is such is a more common occurrence than is usually recognize, AND

WHEREAS: The Municipality of Sioux Lookout wishes to acknowledge the profound grief experienced by families who suffer the death of a small child, infant or pre-term baby; AND

WHEREAS: even the shortest lives are still valuable, and the grief of those who mourn the loss of these lives should be acknowledged; AND

WHEREAS: the 15th day of October is recognized in parts of Canada, and in many other jurisdictions around the world, as a day of remembrance and awareness of pregnancy and infant loss; AND

IT IS HERE BY RESOLVED: to support Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day to be held on October 15, 2023;

NOW THEREFORE: I, Doug Lawrance, Mayor of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, do hereby proclaim October 15th, 2023 as Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Day.
